Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Sentinel Media Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of Wyoming ("we," "us," "our"), governing your access to and use of the Shopper Sentinel mobile app, shoppersentinel.com, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Shopper Sentinel account. Browsing publicly-available parts of the Service (recipes, general information) does not require an account. If we learn an account holder is under 18, we will close the account.
2. What the Service Is
Shopper Sentinel is a free grocery-savings app. It lets you scan a barcode to see available coupons and cashback offers, compare prices for an item across retailers, detect when a product has shrunk in size without a price drop ("shrinkflation"), plan meals and manage a shopping list, and earn Sentinel Points for verified receipt scans and price reports that improve our shared pricing database.
The Service is not: financial or investment advice, a retailer, or a party to your purchases. We surface information gathered from retailers, manufacturers, and our community to help you shop smarter — the transaction itself happens between you and the store.
3. Free Service
Shopper Sentinel is currently free. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, pricing and billing terms will be disclosed before you're charged, and these Terms will be updated accordingly. Nothing in the current Service requires payment.
4. Accounts
Some features (shopping lists, receipt scanning and points, saved recipes, community posting, retailer loyalty linking) require an account, authenticated via Supabase. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us at hello@shoppersentinel.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit fake or manipulated receipts, price reports, or reviews to farm Sentinel Points or distort the shared pricing database.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the Service other than through the features we provide.
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to derive the Service's underlying code or models.
- Post harassing, threatening, defamatory, or illegal content in reviews or community chat.
- Use the Service to violate any law or third party's rights.
- Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section.
6. Your Content
Recipe reviews, ratings, and community chat messages you post are visible to other users. You retain ownership of what you write, but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and moderate it within the Service. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
7. Sentinel Points and Rewards
Sentinel Points are earned for verified actions (scanning a receipt, submitting a manual price report) and have no cash value on their own. Some redemption options — including any sweepstakes, gift-card, or cash-equivalent rewards — are gated behind revenue and participation thresholds and are not available at all times. When a sweepstakes or prize redemption is live, it will separately disclose any purchase-not-necessary terms, eligibility, and odds as required by law. This is not gambling: entry, where offered, is never conditioned on payment. We may modify or discontinue the rewards program at any time.
8. Prices, Coupons, and Nutrition Are Estimates — Please Verify. Shopper Sentinel gathers price, coupon, and nutrition information from retailers, manufacturers, our community of contributors, and automated tools (including receipt OCR and AI-assisted recipe analysis). This information can be outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate, and may differ from what you're actually charged or offered at checkout. Always verify the price, any coupon or offer, and any nutrition or allergen information at the store or with the manufacturer before you rely on it — especially for allergy, medical, or dietary needs. We are not liable for discrepancies between what the Service shows and what you experience in-store.
9. AI and Automated Processing
The Service uses artificial intelligence and automated OCR to power features including recipe photo import, the "Ask Shopper Sentinel" assistant, and receipt scanning (see our Privacy Policy for which providers). These systems can make mistakes — a misread receipt line, a mis-extracted recipe step, or an imperfect answer. Verify anything important, especially where health, allergies, or money are involved.
10. Retailer Loyalty Account Linking
If you link a retailer loyalty account (e.g., Kroger), you authorize Shopper Sentinel to act on your behalf for the limited purpose of viewing and clipping coupons to that account, using an OAuth token issued by the retailer — we never receive or store your retailer password. You can unlink at any time in-app. Your use of the linked retailer's own service remains subject to that retailer's terms.
11. Affiliate Disclosure
Shopper Sentinel may earn a commission when you complete a purchase through certain "Shop" links in the app (for example, retailer affiliate programs). This never changes the price you pay. Any sponsored product or offer placement is always labeled "Sponsored" — we do not run undisclosed sponsorships.
12. Third-Party Content and Services
Recipe content is sourced in part from third-party providers (Spoonacular, TheMealDB, Tasty, and similar). Price data references third-party retailers (Kroger, Walmart, Target, and others via their public data or licensed feeds). We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or practices of these third parties, or of any retailer website you're directed to.
13. Intellectual Property
The Service — its software, design, branding, and the Sentinel shrinkflation-detection methodology — is owned by Sentinel Media Inc. and protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use.
14. Feedback
If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
15. Termination
You may delete your account at any time (see Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, fraud, or abuse of the rewards system. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 7 through 20 — survive.
16. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any price, coupon, nutrition figure, or claim shown is accurate or current (see Section 8). Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: Sentinel Media Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising out of or related to the Service. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100. This applies regardless of legal theory and survives termination. Some jurisdictions do not allow this limitation, so it may not apply to you.
18. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Sentinel Media Inc. against claims arising from your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or your use of the Service.
19. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at hello@shoppersentinel.com — most issues can be resolved informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue. We're keeping this simple and are not requiring mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver at this stage.
20. Apple- and Google-Specific Terms
If you obtained the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the applicable store's standard end-user terms also apply, and that store (not us) is responsible for providing any maintenance or support obligations it has separately agreed to. These Terms are between you and Sentinel Media Inc. only.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time; we'll revise the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

23. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: these Terms plus our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability: if a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
